Walks in and around Kinsale

The commentary of these walks provides an easy-to-read potted history of the town and a natural history of the flora and fauna around about it. If one never walked, simply reading them is enough to inform and entertain.

The routes are chosen for novelty, diversity and magnificent views, and are accessible to the moderately fit of any age. Most are town streets, by-roads or country lanes.

The Kinsale area is rich in history and story. A battle decisive in Irish history was fought there, an English king was first proclaimed there, William Selkirk, Defoe's Robinson Crusoe, set sail from the port of Kinsale.
